A new purchase, and an older one.

Lara Briden’s Period Repair Manual: Natural Treatment for Better Hormones and Better Periods

Esther M. Sternberg’s Healing Spaces: The Science of Place and Well-Being

Does the world make you sick? If the distractions and distortions around you, the jarring colors and sounds, could shake up the healing chemistry of your mind, might your surroundings also have the power to heal you? This is the question Esther Sternberg explores in Healing Spaces, a look at the marvelously rich nexus of mind and body, perception and place.

As you’d imagine, there’s commonality between the two, which I’ll be exploring in the coming months and years.

And the winner is…

Peter from Brisbane!

Here’s our process for drawing prizes:

Each name was written onto a lovely upcycled piece of paper, and bundled into a secret little wad of folds.

The hand-turned and colourfully etched wooden bowl contains our words of the day. We placed the little wads into the bowl, along with the words.

We like these words… which amongst others include love, compassion, tolerance, clarity, forgiveness, trust, beauty, honesty, delight, benevolence…

My daughter Sophie drew the prize-winning name, and a word for the moment – freedom.

Congratulations Peter , and thanks to those who joined in.

We’ll have another competition next month, to mark the beginning of our Australian spring.

And yes, you can see a little of domestic reality in the background there!
